Lan Gaming.....

I loved Sports.....
Be it Cricket, Soccer, Formula One or even Gadha Maar, 29 or Mafia. But never had I come in association with a Sport named GAMING before coming to IIT. The present tense used in the word itself shows you its continuous nature. It never ceases.Its graph has been monotonically increasing since the advent of lan in the campus baring the exception of some occasional inflections brought about by lan bans by the overconservative society of IIT Proffesors.

Let me first explain what the term actually means. Wikipedia says "the term gaming relates to game (any of a number of structured activities), it usually implies participation in particular kinds of games". But we people here mostly refer it to the lan games played in the campus. The more popular ones of them are Counter Strike, Age of Empires, Defence of the Ancients and Unreal Tournament.

My favorite among the four is CS. The basic lessons of Camping, Sniping, Fragging are taught here. And I think they are some of the most important corporate values we need to learn to succeed in our lives. This even is a big stress buster- A window to throw out your frustrations. Pick a maverick and shoot all the RG* people around you.( AAAHH!!!! What a great relief :P). My personal aim is to Chakku all the 9 pointers in CS. But the problem is 9 pointers dont play at all. This also is a good portal to socialize with all the Bakchods of IIT. You hate a proff. Alias your name as the Proff's and then wait for the people to mock. A girl gives you cold vibes, alias your name as the girl's.

Some even go to the extent of playing just for the sake of fulfilling their fantasies. Some behave like slutty call girls(L!T@,Laila), some try to be pimps(Ch!chor@) and animals(J@@nwa@r).This game can actually help you to understand the psychology of students here in IIT. Our parents named us when we were born. But here we have the opportunity to rename ourselves again. The wannabe terrorist uses a name-"RDX". The chotu guy being small becomes-"zero", the photographer uses some prehistoric images 0|( *_* )|0, the helping bai becomes-"Naukrani Kamla". Some themselves feel they are worthless and use eccentric names like "Dayamouse". And what to say about "sIck my dUck"-You yourselves can figure out what this guy needs.

This game has been a soulmate for a lot of us. And I am sure most of the guys will miss this maniacness when they leave the institute. I too will miss you Counter Strike.
